| The GVF’s
primary objective is to facilitate the provision of VSAT-based communications
solutions throughout all nations of the world. As such, the association
has appointed in-country "GVF Correspondents", who help coordinate
VSAT programs on a local level.
The GVF's Brasil Correspondent is Rio-based Unisat Engenharia de Telecomunicacoes Ltda. Jose Cristovam Nascimento, who serves as Unisat's Consultor Tecnico Especializado, assists the GVF as it works towards united goals and objectives for satellite based telecommunications in Brasil and, more widely, throughout Latin America. Through Unisat, the GVF is able to promote industry activities in an appropriate form and manner and in suitable circumstances for the market. For example, when the Brasilian regulator - Anatel - expressed an interest in having the GVF give a Regulatory VSAT Workshop, Unisat was instrumental in organizing the two-day event. In addition, the GVF's relationship with Unisat allows the association to collect and provide market information, statistics, and intelligence on current and proposed legislative, policy and regulatory matters relevant to the GVF members. Further, Unisat can lobby or make representations to officials or unofficial bodies, as directed by the GVF. Unisat facilitates the identification of the challenges and the needs in the market and pinpoints key contacts in the industry and government.
